Christmas Party at a Nudist Resort

Posted on December 17, 2015

The first time I visited a nudist resort was in June 2014 two days after my 66th birthday. Since then I've visited two resorts about an hour from home a few times last year and this year, so I'm still pretty new to social nudism. On December 12, 2015 I went to a dinner and Christmas Party at one of the resorts. The weather was warm enough in north central Texas to be comfortable nude outside. After I undressed and unloaded some food and a gift, I used the hot tub and sauna and talked to some other men. I went for a walk/run on the nature trail before it got dark then played a couple of games of pool before dinner. Dinner was followed by a gift exchange where people could open a new gift or “steal” one from someone else. I think at least sixty people were there. It was my first Christmas party at a nudist resort. I thought everyone would be nude since it was a nudist resort. It surprised me that most people had on pants and shirts or pajamas or robes. The resort owners/managers and some others who lived there were fully clothed and never undressed. Just a few other men and maybe three women were nude. I think that is what the “outside” world should be like, clothing-optional with people wearing as little or as much as they want. I enjoyed the party and the socializing. After the party, I got dressed to drive home. A woman who was dressed the entire time said to me, “You look nice with clothes on.” I said, “Thank you.” I hope she meant it as a compliment.

    • "It would be great if we lived in a utopia where nobody cares what we wear and we could be nude anywhere we desired. That may be possible some day."
Then we wouldn't need either nudity-required or clothing optional areas. I doubt it will ever happen, but there will be increasingly more clothing optional areas. It's interesting that they allow an adjustment period for new people. If I'm in a clothing optional area, I will be nude. Otherwise, why go there. I don't understand why anyone would.

  1. I am not a fan of clothing optional – it can make one feel awkward when you are clothes free and others are not. The same is true when you are clothed and the rest are clothes free. Here's a link to a podcast by Stéphane Deschênes of Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park in Canada. If you are not already subscribed to his podcasts, please do! They are right on target and highly informative! Currently, there are 77 podcasts you can listen to. http://www.naturistliving.bareoaks.ca/2009/06/why-clothing-optional-does-not-work.html

  2. In general,
at the resort in question, nudity is the prevalent "mode of dress" at the potluck dinners and dances afterwards. Halloween party was different with costumes, etc. The general policy there is no clothes and I find that best. I went to a nearby resort for a 5k and at dinner some of the people there had some clothes on and that is when you have no clothes that you feel a bit uncomfortable as I did fully unclothed.

    • In any place that accepts a 'clothes optional' policy I would choose to be naked. (To suit my own comfort)I have no concerns about being naked even if I am the only person in a room of many clothed people. It seems that the attitude of people around us will decide what is acceptable, if the options were always there to be clothed or naked, I would always choose nakedness when I felt warm & comfortable.

        • The rule there is clothing optional for women and children except in pool area. Men are supposed to be nude everywhere. In practice though it appears to be clothing optional everywhere for everybody. I think that is the way it should be. You're right, almost everyone is nude during the day.

    • Yes, it was very different at the 5K I ran last September. The night of the Christmas party it was not really that cold and definitely warm inside so I was very surprised two-thirds or more of the people were clothed.

      • In a clothing optional resort in Croatia I remember that even being summer and warm the evening activities would always be carried out clothed. Only a few of us were naked all the time, I still dont get why they dressed up for the evening, but it is nice everybody does whatever she or he wants. When everybody else is clothed, though, it aint always easy to be the one naked.
