A Moving Experience

Posted on July 1, 2017

We're moving home soon, on 11th July we take up residence in a 2nd floor apartment near the city centre. It's in a block newly built and designed around people who need 'Extra-Care' which means it can be adapted in so many ways to deal with physical or mental changes. There will be all age groups in the block which is great and enables us to socialize much more widely than we do where we are at present.
As for actually preparing for the move, I hate it! packing cases, bubble wrap, tape & string, what a nightmare. The place seems already filled with stuff in brown boxes, nowhere to move around and yet so much yet to do. Yes I am so grateful for all the helping hands, all the folk who come in and assist in this moving trial… even the people who act as if they've been stabbed with a stiletto when they see my naked aged body! One youth did make me laugh though, he stared a short while at my hairy bare torso and my diminishing penis, his eyes then looked at my grey hairs & furrowed brow, he said in dull expressive tones. .
"I don't have much to look forward to do I, I might not care much too when I am much older, but ain't nature unkind!"

I will report back here by blog after we have settled into our new abode, probably in much better state of mind, as long as the 'unpacking' is less painful than 'packing' was. Maybe a whole new batch of friends & a view mournful youths will have made a totally unexpected impression on us. My loving wife is an angel, she loves the whole adventure, thankfully!

  1. In your new apartment you can project your image as the doddering old fool who can't remember that he's supposed to have clothes. Chances are the staff will occasionally escort you back to your apartment and then give up.

Forgetting clothes when going out can be one of those "mental changes" you have had. Play the part. Act befuddled when the staff comes to escort you home. They likely will get tired of the extra work after a while and quit bothering you.

  2. I wish you and wife well on your new adventure. There will be some life changes you will have to get used too. Please stay in touch with us by blog, and try and keep your marvelous sense of humour.
