During a naked hike in the south of the Vercors with the association “Marcheurs Nus du Val de Roanne”, we passed by an old distillery abandoned for a very long time in a ruined barn at the depths of the woods.

I don’t know how legal private distilling is in France, but here in the US that would definitely have been an illegal moonshiner’s still.
There used to be distillers who went from village to village very officially controlled. I think this still was one of those, but it was abandoned for many, many years.
